Defenders: 2008 champs Josh Elliott (5A boys), Annamarie Maag (6A girls) and Drew Jordan (6A boys) all successfully repeated in 2009.

Team Champs:
  • Class 6A - Central Catholic boys with 63 over Jesuit 88; Jesuit girls with 36 over Tualatin 91
  • Class 5A - Crater boys with 25 over Ashland 85; Summit girls with 21 over Crescent Valley 91
  • Class 4A - Henley boys with 49 over Siuslaw 57; Marist girls 58 over Siuslaw 66
  • Class 3A/2A/1A - Nyssa boys with 59 over Union 109; St. Mary's girls with 73 over Catlin Gabel 74
Class 6A Highlights
  • Jesuit junior, US #16 Annamarie Maag claimed her second 6A state title in as many years with a winning time of 18:31, while junior teammate Payton Schutte showed a strong finish on the track for second place in 18:41 
  • Drew Jordan (North Medford sr) took the lead with about 500 meters to go for a repeat win in 16:10 to hold off West Linn junior Cullen Wannarka (16:12)
  • The NW #1, US #6 Jesuit girls set a new Oregon record for the most consecutive state wins by either gender when they captured their eighth straight state title with a total of 36 points; NW bubble team Tualatin girls placed two in the top five as part of their second-place finish with 91 points
  • Central Catholic boys placed five in the top twenty five for a winning score of 63 to finish ahead of second-place Jesuit boys 88 and third-place West Linn 99
Class 5A Highlights
  • The top three broke away early and jostled for positions much of the race with first place eventually going to Megan Fristoe (Summit so) who earned her first state title in a time of 18:52 with Hermiston senior Angelica Rodriguez second in 19:09 and Mountain View sophomore Jessica Wolfe third in 19:19
  • Crater senior Josh Elliott successfully defended his 2008 title with a move from third to first at approximately 800m before the finish line for a 16:03 performance to hold off runner-up Cleveland senior Daniel Winn (16:07)
  • NW bubble team Summit girls scored a low 21 points for their second team title in a row with Crescent Valley finishing second with a total score of 91 points
  • NW #4 Crater boys dominated their race with a 34-second spread and all five scorers finishing in the top eleven for a total of 25 points to earn their fourth straight team win and the distinction of being the ONLY team to win 5A boys this decade; With two in the top ten Ashland finished second with 85 points
Class 4A Highlights
  • Siuslaw teammates junior Raelyn Robinson and senior Samantha Plummer finished 1-2 in a close 19:47 and 19:50
  • Jed Tolbert (Henley sr) battled in a pack of three with Brady Beagley (North Valley sr) and Parker Bennett (Sisters sr) for the majority of the race until he broke away to a winning time of 16:04 with Beagley second in 16:17 and Bennett third in 16:23  
  • Improving on their fifth place finish in 2008, the Marist girls took first place with their five scorers finishing in the top twenty for a 58 point total win over Siuslaw 66
  • Henley boys made history for being the first team from the school to ever win a team title at the state meet; Five in the top fifteen earned Henley a winning score of 49 over Siuslaw 57
Class 3A/2A/1A Highlights
  • Ashley Baldovino (Lakeview sr) returned after a challenging 2008 season and her disappointing runner-up finish to claim the 2009 title in 20:00, adding to the state victories from both her freshman and sophomore years; Kayla Nagunst (Rainier sr) finished a close second in 20:08
  • As expected, Rogue River senior Cole Watson ran away from the field finishing first in 15:52, the fastest time of the day in some of the nicer early rain-free conditions.  Creswell sophomore Corbin Helt crossed the line in 16:29 for second
  • In a nail-bitingly close team competition, St. Mary's edged out Catlin Gabel by just one point, the final score reading 73 to 74
  • Switching their team finishes from 2008, the Nyssa boys scored 59 points for first with Union second in 109 points
