DONNA ON THE SIDE - Friday
by Donna Dye
It's September and time for the Great American Cross Country Festival, a meet now in its seventh year. The festivities took place at the SAS Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, a small quaint community in the Research Triangle area outside of Raleigh.
Great American was founded to bring the best cross country runners from all over America to compete face to face in a festival atmosphere that celebrated the sport and its participants. It was the beginning of a tradition that all in cross country have come to enjoy and respect.
Teams spend Friday getting ready and familiar with the course. This Friday was a HOT, HOT, HUMID day that left all dripping, sweaty and thirsty but with enough energy left to give a smile and wave.
