Eastern Mass Division I

Although none of the top 5 teams in the state are in this race, it will be by far the most competitive team battle but only 5 will qualify for the all state meet. This race will be wide open for the top 5 with at least 10 teams having a shot.

1 Chelmsford

2 Cambridge

3 Brookline

4 Methuen

5 BC High

6 Lowell

7 Plymouth

8 Lexington

9 St Johns Prep

10 Brocton

11 Newton North

12 Haverhill

13 Barnstable

The individual race should be great featuring a half miler, soph Ahmedi from Somalia against long distance runner McArdle. Alliette could also win the race. Barshard had a tough early season and is looking to come on in the big meets.

1 **Said Ahmedi, Boston English (1.55)

2 Tom McArdle, Brookline (9.40)

3 Kevin Alliette, Methuen

4 *Josh Barshard, Somerville (9.46)

5 Byron Gartrell, BCH

6 Paul Kingston, BCH

7 Renny Waldron, Cambridge

8 Sean McCarthy, Chelmsford

9 Paul Machado, New Bedford

10 Jordan Jones, Medford

11 Dave Hartman, Cambridge

12 Ian Joseph, Lexington

13 Pat English, BCH

Division II

Dunsky’s Gloucester is looking for their 5th straight title, but they may need a miracle. Westford probably has too much depth. No other team has a chance to win.

1 Westford Acadamey

2 Gloucester

3 Whitman-Hansen

4 Central Catholic

5 Newton South

Great race up front between Wessenyeleh from Ethiopia and 2 time New England mile champ Colangelo. If Benji tries to rely on his kick he will be doomed against Colangelo. John "Deke" Decomandria of Wakefield has yet another blue chiper in Wallace. Deke has been doing that for decades. Bloom leads the powerfull WA team after getting a late start due to mono. Individually this division has the most depth and will be the hardest to qualify as an individual.

1 Benji Wessenyeleh, O’Bryant (9.26, 4.28)

2 *Tristan Colangelo, Gloucester (4.17)

3 Shawn Wallace, Wakefield (9.53)

4 Tyler Bloom, Westford Academy (9.45)

5 Rich Lincoln, Lincoln Sudbury (4.31, 9.56)

6 **Josh Palazola, Gloucester (2.01)

7 *John Jacobson, Taunton (4.29,2.00)

8 Matt Emond, Marshfield

9 Jim Emord, Bridgewater-Raynham

10 Jarrod Shoemaker, Lincoln-Sudbury 11 Brian Lankiewicz, Whitman-Hanson 12 Chris Antunes, Westford Academy (1.56)

13 *Shawn Milne, Gloucester

14 Marc Leblanc, Natick

15 Scott Strandberg, Reading

16 Dave Fortin, Westford Acadamy

17 Brian Griffin, Central Catholic

Division III

Should be a cakewalk for OA. Stoneham is the best of the rest. This division will be weaker than it has been in the recent past.

1 Oliver Ames

2 Stoneham

3 Wellesley

4 Milton

5 Bishop Feehan

6 Walpole

7 Tewksbury

1 Andy Powell, Oliver Ames (8.59, 4.05)

2 Chris Johnson, Oliver Ames (4.24)

3 Aaron Piffarian, King Philip

Individually this division is very weak. Powell can jog it with his teammates who should clean up.

Division IV

Norwell should win a tight and unpredictable team battle.

1 Norwell

2 Foxboro

3 Seekonk

4 Hamilton-Wenham

5 Weston

6 Sandwich

Sanchez is one of the top 5 in the country and will win easy here and look forward to his show down with Powell the following week. Geoff Atkinson is undefeated and has a tremendous kick. Nephi Tyler is rapidly improving. Rory ran a 4.21 mile outdoors but is have a tough time over hill and dale.

1 Frank Sanchez, Lynn Tech (9.07)

2 *Geoff Atkinson, Norwell (never ran track!)

3 Nephi Tyler, Farr (9.46)

4 Jim Kastrenis, Foxboro

5 Chris Testa, Dover-Sherborn

6 Igor Rory, Lynnfield (4.21)

7 Matt Thomas, Amesbury

Central Mass Div I

St Johns (S) is the best team in the state. Wachusett’s chances for a state title were gone when Sean Triacks decided he would rather kick a dumb ball around rather than win a state XC title.

1 St Johns-Shrewsbury

2 Wachusett

3 Doherty

4 North Middlesex

5 Shewsbury

6 Milford

7 Nashoba

8 Algonquin

Pat Boehm has worked his up to being one of the best runners in the country. He will have his hands full with Curran who came out blazing early. This race may have the look of a St Johns-Wachusett duel meet.

1 Pat Boehm, Wachusett (4.26, 9.54)

2 Tim Curran, St John’s (Shrewsbury) (9.39)

3 Chris Carvelli, N. Middlesex (4.22, 9.46)
