Montana State Meet
Flathead boys (23) won AA easily with entire team in top 20
(1-2-4-5-11-15-19). The winner was so David Vidal in 14:54, fastest
time of the day, catching US #41 Kevin Clary in the last 200 meters. Clary finished
fourth. US #24 sr Travis Stehman, Kremlin-Gildford, won Class
C in 14:55. Amber Arvidson of Flathead set a new girls AA course
record at 17:50, beating Heidi Lane of Great Falls CMR by one second. But CMR
beat Flathead for the team title, 54-67.

Montana held their state meet October 24 in Helena Montana. Running conditions were
perfect. The temperature was in the low 60s with
clear skies and no wind. Helena is at an elevation of about 4200 feet. The course is
moderate in difficulty. Running surface is mostly grass.
The course is 3 miles length.
The Flathead boys easily won the double A competition with a score of 23 points. They went
1-2-4-5-11-15-19. Sophomore David Vidal of
Flathead was the individual boys winner. His time of 14:54 was the fastest time of the
day. Kevin Clary of Flathead led the race most of the
way but was caught in the last 200 meters and faded but still finished 4th place.

The CMR girls from Great Falls placed 5 in the top 16 to finish ahead of Flathead of
Kalispell. (2-7-14-15-16) Junior Amber Arvidson was a
repeat winner in girls competition. She broke the course record held by Emily Nay of
Helena Capital by 21 seconds with a time of 17:50. It
was a great duel between Arvidson and Freshman Heidi Lane of CMR. They matched strides for
most of the way but Arvidson put on a spurt
near the end and won by one second.
