Here are the Foot Locker qualifiers (top-8) from the Northeast Regional
race, held today at Van Cortlandt Park on a beautiful day for running:

Boys:

  Unless he falls or is sick at the Foot Locker Final, I don't see anyone=

touching Mohamud, the defending champion. He won easily and appeared to
have plenty in reserve.
  Murad Campbell backed up his cocky pre-race talk by taking 2nd place. A=

couple of qualifiers barely held on. Steve Slattery, 9th at last year's
Final, was leading at 2-miles (according to him) when he started feeling
poorly--"I thought I was having a heart attack". He hung on for 7th place=
,
but needed a long time after the race to recover.
  I was standing about 20 yards in front of the finish when I saw Andy
Powell go by in 7th place. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I
learned that he had fallen twice after he passed me before falling again
across the finish line, just edging Eric Meehan for the final qualifying
spot. A review of the videotape confirmed that Powell had crossed the lin=
e
under his own power.
