stretched out her National Lead in the Girls Shot Put in the same
affair with a 48-11.5 effort (and 145-02 win in the Discus). Kajari
Burns (Hogan, Vallejo) takes Athlete of Meet with 21.99 (200m) adn
49.03 (400m) wins. Florin's Rickey Green 14.94 and 39.33 to win the
Hurdles in brief report.
ANGELINA RAY (Laguna Creek, Elk Grove) 41-08.5 Shot Put and frosh
NICOLE CARMIER (LC) 5-06 in the High Jump to join the State's top
marks listing (from Kevin Wilson).
SAM LIGHTBODY (Huntington Beach) breaks 190 foot barrier with 192-00
win against Los Alamitos HS in a meet at Huntington Beach on April
22nd. Sam took the Shot Put in the same meet at 60-00.
Huntington Beach teammate JEFF RYAN upped his best in the Pole Vault
to 15-07 in the same meet!
DERRICK WELLS (University, Los Angeles) shocked with a 48-05w in the
Triple Jump in a 4/23 dual meet in Los Angeles. A senior who did not
attend any Invitational competitions during the regular season this
spring, this is a mildly impressive performance. Looking back to last
year Wells would seem to have all the components that go into making a
good Triple Jumper--11.2 in the 100m, 6-0 in the High Jump, and 21-
03.5 in the Long Jump in his League Meet to close out the regular 1998
season last spring. Always nice to have someone pop onto the scene to
spice up an event area!!!
NICK BARNETT (Miller, Fontana) has been doing a fine job thus far this
spring, with school record 14.5 (110mHH ) and 38.9 (300mIH) clockings
and a third school record., 44-10, through mid-April of this year.
COLLEGE SIGNINGS - JAMARA SMITH (Logan, Union City) fine
sprinter/horizontal jumper with the University of Washington. DEE
SCOTT (South, Bakersfield) hurdles and horizontal jump star with Cal
