Emily Buzzell led the Middletown MD girls to victory in a multi-state invitational for the second straight week (Penn State Spiked Shoe last week). Buzzell toured the hilly, sharp cornered Hereford HS course in 19:17 for a 13-second margin over Maureen McCandless of Nazareth PA. Fellow freshman Rocky Morgan ran second for Middletown again (5th overall) as the Lady Knights scored 46-69 over C. Milton Wright MD. Next were Nazareth 135, Notre Dame Prep MD 140, North Penn PA 144, and Broad Run VA 149. Dulaney MD star Tenke Zoltani ran with Buzzell through 2 miles before falling and did not finish. Westminster MD's balanced boys (5-9-13-16-23) scored 66-95 over River Hill MD, followed by South Carroll MD 130, Walt Whitman MD 135, and Eastern NJ 140. Mike Myers of Eastern ran 16:38 for a 3-second victory over Bobby Mead of South Carroll. Carlos Hunt of Westlake MD ran a fine 16:39 with a 22-second margin in the large school division. |
