Directed by Olympic Gold Medal winner Dick Fosbury (1968 High Jump Gold Medal) and Bowdoin College track coach Peter Slovenski, this is an outstanding track & field camp for campers aged 12 to 18 including high school graduates.

The Dick Fosbury Track & Field Camp is designed to strengthen athletic skills and build a winning attitude. Top technical coaching is the heart of our program, but we also emphasize discipline and sportsmanship.

We have more spirit and character than other camps because our staff spends more time with the campers. Our staff enjoys the discipline of camp life.

High quality coaching with one-on-one attention is offered for the following events:

*hurdles *sprints *triple jump *long jump *high jump *pole vault *discus *javelin *shot put *hammer *middle distance *long distance

Each athlete receives personal and group coaching from the camp's staff of coaches who have had success at the high school, college, and even Olympic level. Campers will have the opportunity to measure and watch their improvement on videotape throughout the week.

There will be lectures, films, and demonstrations on the latest training techniques. Staff members will also teach campers about other aspects of competition such as nutrition, relaxation, visualization, and commitment.

The Camps will be held at Western State College, the home of the Division II perennial powerhouse Mountaineers distance programs, where they have produced over 50 National Champions and over 300 All Americans.

Campers will be running twice a day with a Coach Sanderson signature very light morning run and strides and stretches that will allow you to absorb the afternoon run. The afternoon runs will be run in different locations throughout the Gunnison Valley.

The Rocky Mountain Cross Country Camps will be run in the Alpine forest of the Rocky Mountains with many soft places to run. There will be three lectures a day with activities and workshops set up at different times.

Lectures and Day to Day Activity will consist of, to name a few:

Flexibility Core Training
Motivation and Commitment
Running distances 2 - 9 miles in afternoon sessions
What it takes to be a champion
Biomechanics of Speed

The University of Illinois Speed, Strength, and Skill Development Camp will provide skill instruction applicable to all sports and is open to any high school aged male or female athlete of any sport. Afternoon runs will utilize the natural terrain in and around the Cal Poly campus along with trails and beaches throughout scenic Central Coast with ample beach time afterward.

Aloha Cross Country Camp is for incoming high school runners.

Camp H.R. Erdman is located on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Nestled between the Waianae Mountains and pristine beaches of Mokuleia, Camp Erdman provides the perfect camp setting.

Campers will enjoy the fresh air and quiet environment from their cabins. Cabins, complete with electricity and bunk beds provide a cozy and rustic experience. Restrooms and showers rooms are in each cabin.

Counselors include former and current NCAA collegiate runners.

Instruction includes running workouts, injury prevention/stretching, shoe selection, core training, college recruiting, nutrition and motivation. Guest speakers will be professionals in their field.

Directed by Jim Hunt and Kevin Searls, join thier professional staff of Cal Poly SLO head coach, Mark Conover and Olympian Gabe Jennings along with other coaches. All staff members are experienced in both steeple chase and running distances. You will learn how to run properly and thus, enjoy running either for personal or at competitive levels.

Camp Goals:
*To offer a thorough knowledge and philosophy of cross country.

Training and Facilities:
Training sessions will occur in a variety of locations in the area including the University of Illinois Arboretum, home of the cross country team's course, the trails at the Lake of the Woods and Homer Lake Park. Each day will feature different scenery and emphasize a different aspect of training. These training sessions will include instruction in various cross country training techniques such as hill running, fartlek, interval running, racing tactics, etc. There will also be instruction in supplemental training methods through drills, circuit and weight training and specific strength and flexibility exercises.

Duke also features one the top track & field facilities in the country. The 34,000 capacity Wallace Wade Stadium hosted the 2000 NCAA Track & Field Championships. All training activities will take place on on-campus facilities and trails.

Housing and Meals:
Campers will be able to experience campus life on one of the most beautiful college campuses in the nation. Campers will stay in air-conditioned double dorm rooms on Duke’s gothic style west campus. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the main cafeteria (Great Hall) and dinners catered at the track stadium each evening. All meals will be buffet style.
