He does have beautiful ( and I mean that) Branch Brook Park in which to train but then again, no training partner that is near him in ability. Some runners are okay with that; obviously Cheserek handled it well. For some others it much harder. Add that to the slight change in lifestyles he experienced when he came here.

\nExpectations are awfully high. Even for guys on the so-called elite list 4:13 asa soph would be something a lot of them reached for and didn't necessarily get.","date_added":"Sep 26th 2014, 10:57am","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":285143,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"Joe Lanzalotto","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=3300","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/Joe-Lanzalotto.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"7321"},"1127721":{"pb_id":"43639","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"1127721","comment_id":"1127721","member_id":"43639","comment":"

\nGeorgie -- I'm interested to see whatever he does next. I have to admit I'd begun to write him off a little bit as non-elite material, but he has my attention. I'd just like to see him beat a few guys on the list first.
<\/div><\/div>
\n
\nI agree, beating guys is the most important thing - and so far, he's really never beaten anyone. Last year, he was in a bit over his head, and his best races seemed to come when he wasn't pressed. His biggest disadvantage was that St. Ben's doesn't compete in the NJ state meet series, so he wasn't really championship tested. Big invites were his only chance, and a lot of times on the track he was buried on relay legs.
\n
\nI must correct my above post, however, he ran 4:13.29 for the mile at New Balance Outdoor Nationals, in addition to sporting 1:55\/9:30ish credentials. Certainly shows a bit more on the lower side, but I think he just wasn't as developed training wise.
\n
\nBut 4:13 as a sophomore is no joke. Unlike Cheserek, who already had a track resume (sub 30 10k, 14:30 5k, etc) when he came to St. Ben's, Rutto had never really run before. I think this XC season will be his coming out party.","date_added":"Sep 26th 2014, 4:15am","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":285143,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"GeorgieTheK","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=43639","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/GeorgieTheK.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1073375"},"1127707":{"pb_id":"44418","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"1127707","comment_id":"1127707","member_id":"44418","comment":"Georgie -- I'm interested to see whatever he does next. \n
\nHe ran 4:16 last year as a sophomore, as he was figuring out how to run, and adjusting to life in the U.S.
\n
\nJust ran the #3 time at a course in NJ, that while it is fairly recent, trails only late season performances by #1 a guy who ran 9:02 last year, and #2 a guy who qualified for NXN individually as a junior and FL as a senior.
\n
\nHaving seen him run, he's not as dynamic as Cheserek was, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the lead pack at national races. I don't think there's anyone on the east coast who will blow him away.","date_added":"Sep 25th 2014, 11:46pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":285143,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"GeorgieTheK","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=43639","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/GeorgieTheK.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1073375"},"1128193":{"pb_id":"68718","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"1127662","pid":"1128193","comment_id":"1128193","member_id":"68718","comment":"i doubt he can stay with alex ostberg","date_added":"Sep 27th 2014, 4:45pm","nest":1,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":285143,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"runner134","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=68718","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/runner134.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1493810"}},"last_id":"1127662","url":"comments.php?item_type=news&item_id=285143&item_url=gprofile.php?mgroup_id=44531"}
