USATF Names Allyson Felix as Athlete of the Week

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

USATF announced Allyson Felix as Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for her world-leading performance Sunday in the 400 meters at the Muller Anniversary Games in London.

This was the 23rd Diamond League race win for the nine-time Olympic medalist and defending World 400-meter champion.

Felix's time of 49.65 eclipsed Quanera Hayes' top mark of 49.72 from her win June 24 at the USATF Outdoor Championships. The pair will both represent the U.S. in London at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships next month.

Sunday's win came exactly two years to the day since Felix last won a Diamond League race. She won the 200 meters at Athletissima on July 9, 2015 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In addition to winning the USATF award, Felix also won the Readers' Choice Award in the DyeStat Performance of the Week.
