Lawrence Cherono Gets Course Record in Surprise Victory in AmsterdamBy Adam Kopet Cors van den Brink for the IAAF reports that Kenya's Lawrence Cherono broke the course record Sunday at the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. Cherono's time, 2:05:09, broke the course record and took more than a minute off his own personal best. Finishing second was Norbert Kigen of Kenya. He finished four seconds behind Cherono. In all, five men broke 2:06:00. This was Cherono's fourth win over the marathon distance. In his nine career marathons, he has finished on the podium eight times. More news |
