Blacksburg steps into No. 1 spot in Southeast

This week, Blacksburg VA is the only team to move up to a top spot, taking over No. 1 in the Southeast region. The Bruins won the MileStat.com Invitational by 81 points in their best performance of the year.

In New York, Fayetteville-Manlius shook off a bit of early season rust and thoroughly dominated the HOKA One One Manhattan Invitational. The Hornets swept the top three places in the Eastern States Championship race and placed five runners in the top nine for a record-tying 22 points.

The Manhattan Invitational also gave a boost to two teams in the Southeast. The Bolles FL and Padua DE enter the region rankings at Nos. 4 and 5 in the Southeast with third- and fourth-place finishes at Van Cortlandt Park.

Previously unranked Pleasant Grove won the Utah 6A state meet over American Fork and Lone Peak and the Vikings take the No. 5 spot in the Southwest.

The South is a region to watch as the race for second, behind Keller TX, is heating up. The Texas UIL 6A District 5 Championships saw four teams finish within four points, including a short-handed Southlake Carroll TX team that finished third. All four teams are represented in this week's rankings.

California is the only region to remain unchanged from two weeks ago. However, that could change after the Mt. SAC Invitational this weekend. Three of the top five teams (Great Oak, Claremont and Vista Murrieta) are competing, as well as several teams looking to make a jump into the top five.
