Keni Harrison Ties Lolo Jones' American Record in 60-Meter HurdlesPublished by
Harrison equals No. 3 all-time performer, clocking 7.72 at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invitational By Erik Boal, DyeStat Editor Leave it to Keni Harrison to upstage fellow Americans Christina Manning and Sharika Nelvis, without even being in the building. One day before Manning and Nelvis were set to square off in the 60-meter hurdles at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix at the Reggie Lewis Center at Roxbury Community College in Boston, Harrison not only produced a world-leading time Friday, but tied the 2010 American record of 7.72 seconds by Lolo Jones at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invitational. Manning had run 7.77 on Tuesday in Dusseldorf, after Nelvis had clocked 7.80 on Feb. 3 in Karlsruhe during their three-meet tour of Germany. Harrison, who ran 7.81 in the semifinals, improved on her 7.74 from last year at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., to elevate into a tie for the No. 3 all-time performer. Only Sweden's Susanna Kallur (7.68) and Russia's Ludmila Engquist (7.69) have faster times than Harrison and Jones. Kentucky junior Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and USC sophomore Anna Cockrell also ran personal bests, taking second and third in 7.95 and 7.96, respectively. Only USC redshirt junior Dior Hall (7.94) has run faster this year among collegiate performers.
