- Mary Cain is Moscow-bound! A painfully slow, tactical 1500 was similar to USA Indoors and played into her hands for a 4:28.76 runnerup finish, earning a Team USA spot for Worlds | USATF Seniors.
- 3 Junior winners...Maggie Ewen MN takes loaded DT w/US#2 179-6 (#13 a-t) after off-day in shot. Also, 46.55 400 victory for Marcus Chambers WA; kick earns Nathaniel Roberts OR 10k RW win | Saturday DEEP HIGHLIGHTS |

- Thanks in part to a hept PR of 13.35w(+2.4), Kendell Williams GA is 5 pts ahead of her 2012 USR pace with 3,478 after four events of the heptathlon. She leads by 233 pts. ahead of Hamilton AZ jr Ashlee Moore and Palisades Charter CA sr Kendall Gustafson 3,227.
- With PRs of 10.81 100, 6-9.75 HJ and 49.92 400, Lake Park IL sr Scott Filip leads the decathlon after 1 day with 4,064 pts, 166 ahead of Mt. View OR sr Mitch Modin 3,898. Favorite Wolf Mahler TX is 4th with 3,733.
