The meet is back at Hereford for this season. The course has been altered slightly because of construction and judging by the Bull Run Invite there in late September it runs a little faster.

Should be a good meet this year.

Do you think the likelihood is that the state meet will shift to McDaniel College -- and away from Hereford -- permanently?

Doug,

I thought the course had a very collegiate feel to it. On a golf course, a very rolling, deceptively hilly course with lots of switchbacks and down hills. Not lightning fast but not Hereford by any means (Hereford is only 3 miles so that tells you how slow that course is).
I would be in favor of going back. I really liked how much access (coaches at least) had to the course and as a spectator you could also see a lot of the race and you had several opportunities to get nice and loud with the race rolling right by you. One complaint I heard was about the officials and the constant yelling about watching the course and where you can and can not go...but you are always going to have that no matter where the meets is. Perfect day for a meet. Little chill in the air and a touch of wind but it's November and colder weather means time to run fast.

Ryan Forsyth led Severna to the state title in 15:41.

So judging by these times the McDaniel course was no joke. Maybe not quite as hard as Hereford, which John Dye once called "the toughest three miles in cross country."

The fastest girl in the meet was Isabel Griffith of Dulaney in 18:26.2.

Does anyone who was there have a reaction to this course set-up? Is there any sentiment toward keeping it here or should it go back to Hereford?
