This Saturday, December 20th will mark the 61st running of the historic Bishop Loughlin Games. Billed as the oldest and largest high school indoor meet in the country, the Bishop Loughlin Games will welcome athletes from all across the Eastern Seaboard.

One of the many highlights of last season’s Games came when Kyle Levermore, who now competes for the University of Oregon, won the boys two mile in an impressive time of 9:15.49. Stephen Garrett of Tatnall HS took second in the event last season and will look to take this year’s top spot over a deeply talented field.

Ronaldo Griffiths and Kemarni Mighty of Clara Barton HS will go up against a stacked field in the boys 600m. Griffiths, who took third in the 400m at last season’s New Balance Indoor Nationals and Mighty, a 2014 USATF Outdoor Junior Olympic competitor, will likely find their toughest opposition from Richard Rose of Boys and Girls HS, who won the 600m at the Games last season.

“Running at The Armory has always been a great experience,” said Rose. “This is my last year, so the goal is to just run as fast as I possibly can.”

The girls two mile will be as heated as ever. Anna Flynn of Ursuline HS took second in the event last season and looks to win over a field of distance running veterans including Kaylee Scott, who won the girls 1000m as a sophomore for Acedemy of  Holy Names.

The Bishop Loughlin Games will run from 9:00am – 10:00pm. General admission is $10, reserved seating is $20 and student tickets are $5. Check the event’s page for more information: http://www.armorytrack.com/gprofile.php?do=view_event&event_id=7051&mgroup_id=45586&year=2014
