Bentonville girls win 4th straight title

 

State Meet Highlights

 
The twins – Lexi and Tori Weeks – dominated Arkansas high school track and field this spring. It culminated with Lexi’s new outdoor national record in the pole vault, but it included a combined 88 points from the sisters at the Arkansas state meet (Class 7A). It still wasn’t enough to beat Bentonville for the team title (141.50 to 141).

Lexi and Tori Weeks of Cabot amassed a combined 88 points in the Class 7A meet. Read about their performances here.

 

- TJ Sugg, a junior from Har-Ber, won the Class 7A 800 (1:55.05) and 1,600 (4:23.15).

 

- Taylor Mahone of Bentonville won the Class 7A girls 100 (12.22), was third in the 200 (25.49) and ran a leg on the 4x100 relay to help her team win the state crown.

 

- Andrew Bishop of Arkansas (Texarkana) led his school to its third straight Class 6A team title. He won the 100 (10.78) and was part of the winning 4x100 relay.

 

- Junior Jada Baylark of Little Rock Parkview Magnet was the standout of the Class 6A meet, with wins in the triple jump (39-4.75), 100 hurdles (14.98), 100 meters (12.39) and a second-place finish in the 200 (25.55).

 

- Henri Murphy of Dollarway won the Class 4A 100 (10.70 prelim/10.91 final) and 200 (22.25) and was also part of the winning 4x100 relay on the way to helping his team win the championship.

 

- Michael Carr from Jonesboro Westside won the Class 4A pole vault with a clearance at 16-0.


Top Teams:

 
Bentonville won its fourth consecutive 7A girls title, while Bryant unseated Bentonville for the 7A boys title, 118 to 103.

 

 

Record-breakersThe Weeks sisters ultimately go down as two of the greatest pole vaulters to come along at the high school level. Tori Weeks is the national indoor record holder (14-4) and Lexi is the outdoor record holder (14-7.50).
