RESULTS

Wyoming is so sparsley populated that it's almost a shame when top runners miss the chance to push each other because of classification differences.

Such was the case Saturday, where Brody Smith and Chris Henry dominated separate races.

Henry repeated his Class 4A title and led Laramie to its fourth consecutive team title. He ran 15:29.4 -- about four seconds faster than he won the race last year as a junior. He won by 40 seconds. Laramie had no competition, winning with 27 points. Second-place Rock Springs scored 99.

Smith, aka "Brody from Cody" ran the fastest time at Sheridan's VA Hospital course by running 15:23.4 to win the 3A championship race. He was less than a second and a half from the course record. He won by 36 seconds. Star Valley won the team title for the fourth straight year.

In Class 2A, Wyoming Indian won it's ninth straight boys team title. Individually, it was Jorge Garcia of Pine Bluffs/Burns taking the win.

Sophomore Aubrey Frentheway from Cheyenne Central ran a very strong 18:31.3 and missed the course record for girls by less than two seconds. She led her team to a 68-74 victory over Campbell County to claim the Class 4A title. Freshman Mackenzie Marler of Cheyenne East showed that she also has a bright future, finishing second in 18:36.4.

Calbi Ausmann of Newcastle won the Class 3A title for the second straight year, running 18:39.2. Jackson Hole defended its team title by placing all seven of its runners in the top 16 -- all with non-seniors.

Jules Ward of Thermopolis also retained her title, winning the 2A girls race in 19:12.5. Pine Bluffs/Burns won its sixth straight team title.
