Well that was a historic weekend of high school track and field in the U.S. Three national high school records tumbled by the wayside and there were a bunch of new US#1 performances across the board. Who had the best weekend? Go ahead and vote for two.
Drew Hunter, Loudoun Valley VA: He smashed the high school record in the indoor mile with 3:58.25 at the Armory Track Invitational and became the eighth prep of all-time to dip under the four-minute barrier.
Vashti Cunningham, Bishop Gorman NV: She broke a 32-year-old national record in the high jump by nearly two inches when she jumped 6-4.75 at the University of New Mexico. Her mark also earned the Olympic A standard.
Mondo Duplantis, Lafayette LA: The sophomore broke the national high school record in the pole vault when he cleared 18-0.50 at the LSU High School Last Chance Qualifier Meet.
Sammy Watson, Rush-Henrietta NY: She ran US#2 all-time 2:45.32 to win the 1,000 meters and US#7 all-time 1:30.08 to win the 600 meters at the Armory Track Invitational.
Dasia Pressley, Pennsbury PA: She ran a US#1 time of 38.20 to win the 300 meters at the Armory Track Invitational.
Lauren Rain Williams, Oaks Christian CA: She ran a US#1 time of 23.47 in the 200 meters at the New Balance Boise Indoor.
Cassondra Hall, Warner Robins GA: She ran a US#1 time of 7.36 in the 60 meters at the Vanderbilt High School Invitational.
Cravont Charleston, Mallard Creek NC: He ran a US-leading time in the 60 meters with 6.69 seconds at the David Oliver Classic.
McKenzie Dunmore, McEachern GA: She ran a US#1 time of 54.48 in the 400 meters at the Vanderbilt High School Invitational.
Bullis MD girls 4x400 relay: This squad ran a US#1 time of 3:46.68 at the Armory Track Invitational.
Mamaroneck NY girls 4x800 relay: The group ran a US#1 time of 9:01.81 at the Armory Track Invitational.
Terrell Jackson, Memphis University TN: He lowered the US#1 time in the 800 meters to 1:52.28 at the Vanderbilt High School Invitational.
Garek Bielaczyc, Salt Lake East UT: He ran 9:00.07 for two miles at the New Balance Boise Indoor, good for US#2.
Braxton Canady, Paxon FL: He ran 7.75 in the 60 hurdles for a new US#1 at the David Oliver Classic.
West Islip NY boys 4x800 relay: This quartet ran a US#1 time of 7:50.01 at the Armory Track Invitational.
Rayvon Grey, Beacon NY: He upped his U.S. lead in the triple jump with 49-4.50 at the NY Section I Class C meet.
