Vernon Turner re-breaks Oklahoma record with 7-5

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

Competing Friday at the Zebra Invitational at Claremore, Okla., Vernon Turner, a senior at Yukon OK, cleared a US#1 7-5 in the high jump, breaking his own state record.

The Oklahoma-bound jumper cleared 7-4.5 at the OSSAA 6A State Championships last year to establish the state record. That jump qualified him to compete at the Olympic Trials.

The 7-5 jump makes Turner the No. 6 all-time prep performer. He is now only two inches away from Andra Manson's 2002 national record of 7-7.
