Kyriazis Moves Up to NCAA No. 2 All-Time in Javelin with Massive Opening Throw at Texas RelaysBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Ioannis Kyriazis has thrown big before, but never this early in the season. The Texas A&M junior won the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays men's javelin with a personal best 288 feet, 9 inches (88.01m) on his opening throw. It would be a mark Kyriazis would not approach the rest of the day. However, that did not matter when he won by nearly 50 feet. His previous best, 285-10 (87.14m), came at the Greek Under-23 National Championships last summer. Before then, Kyriazis had never thrown over 270 feet. Kyriazis' performance moves him up to No. 2 all-time in the NCAA, behind Patrik Boden who set the collegiate record of 292-4 (89.10m) at the Texas Relays in 1990. More news |
