Sam Affolder to Finish High School Career at Loudoun Valley VAPublished by
Sam Affolder Set to Transfer from Carlisle PA to Loudoun Valley VA for 2017 Cross Country SeasonBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Until recently, there were many question marks about where Sam Affolder, currently a sophomore at Carlisle PA, would be attending school next year. His family has moved frequently due to his father's military career and remaining in Carlisle seemed unlikely. According to Timothy Johnson of PennLive, Affolder now knows where he will land next year. Starting in the fall, Affolder will be attending Loudoun Valley in Purcellville, Virginia, alma mater of high school indoor mile record holder Drew Hunter. The move is required after Affolder's father accepted a position at the Pentagon following his graduation from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle. Purcellville is about an hour outside of Washington D.C., but Affolder's father is willing to make the commute. Thus far, Affolder has made a big impact at Carlisle. He and his senior brother Noah, a Syracuse commit, both qualified for the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in the fall and they both competed on the high school indoor distance medley relay record team. In the still young outdoor season, Affolder has run 1:56.26 for 800 meters and 4:16.42 for 1,600 meters. The latter ranks him second in Pennsylvania. Before Affolder leaves for Virginia, he will finish out his sophomore year at Carlisle. The Pennsylvania state meet is at the end of May, giving him time to leave a greater mark on Carlisle and Pennsylvania. More news |
