Christian Coleman Will Only Run the 100 Meters at World ChampionshipsPublished by
Coleman Chooses Not to Double at IAAF World Outdoor ChampionshipsBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Christian Coleman has the potential to be the next great American sprinter. After second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meters at the USATF Outdoor Championships, he qualified to run both events Aug. 4-13 at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in London. However, HSInternational Sports Management, the company that represents Coleman, announced Friday he will focus only on the 100 in London. Coleman raced 48 times this year, indoors and outdoors. That is significantly more than many of his competitors he will face at the World Championships. Four of those races were NCAA Division 1 Championship wins both indoors and outdoors. The open spot in the 200 will go to Oregon standout Kyree King, who finished fourth at the USATF Outdoor Championships. King has also turned pro after a successful year in the NCAA competing for the Ducks. Presumably Coleman will still run on the 4x100 relay for Team USA. More news |
