The young Norwegian did so again this week setting two personal bests at 800 and 5,000 meters on consecutive days. On Thursday, Ingebrigtsen finished second in the Young Diamonds Challenge 800 at the Weltklasse Zurich Diamond League meeting. His time of 1:49.40 is a Norwegian U18 record. Then on Friday, competing at the Sandnes Norwegian Championships, Ingebrigtsen improved his 5,000 personal best to 13:35.84. He broke his own European U18 best in his four-second win. This two-day showcase came just over two weeks after Ingebrigtsen fell in the 3,000 steeplechase prelims at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships, finishing a non-qualifying eighth place in 8:34.88. It was still his second-best time in the event. |
