Girls Regional Rankings - 9/21/17

The surprise so far this year in the Midwest has been the emergence of Dunlap IL, a 2A school.

Freshmen can make a big impact on girls teams and Dunlap has found a gem in Campbell Peterson, who finished second in the 2A race at the First to the Finish Invitational. Carmel IN and Centerville OH squared off at the Trinity/Valkyre Invitational, with Centerville coming away with the four-point win.

Wayzata MN appears to be the most complete team in the Heartland so far, which bumps the Trojans up to No. 1 this week. Minnetonka MN has yet to run a complete squad, but Sophie Whicher is one of the top girls in the state. She won the Nike Heartland Pre-Regional by 85 seconds. Sun Prairie WI jumps into the top five this week after dominating the competition within its state. However, the Cardinals remain untested against their Minnesota neighbors.

Colorado programs continue to lead the Southwest, but this week it is Mountain Vista leading the charge and Broomfield dropping to third. American Fork UT moves into the top five this week, but it will be a close battle to see which team emerges as the top program in Utah. That picture could become clearer Saturday after the Bob Firman Invitational in Idaho.
