Bosley, Sippy run to Wisconsin Division 1 titles

Junior Drew Bosley of Homestead, the runner-up to Finn Gessner in 2016, blitzed The Ridges Golf Course and won the Wisconsin Division 1 cross country title Saturday in 15 minutes, 39.9 seconds. 

Bosley, ranked No. 20 by DyeStat, beat Wesley Schiek of Oshkosh North by more than five seconds.

Middleton put three guys in the top 11 to help clinch the team championship by more than 100 points with its final score of 76. Caleb Easton, Michael Madoch and Sam Jaeger led the way. 

Sun Prairie, the second-ranked team in the Heartland Region, scored 57 points to win the girls team title over Muskego (74). Katie Rose led the way for Sun Prairie with her third-place overall finish.

All of the state's top girls were chasing Peyton Sippy of Janesville Craig, however. Sippy ran 18:01.6 to win the state title after placing fourth in 2016. 

Junior Dana Feyen of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau ran 18:39.7 to claim the Division 2 girls race. Freedom put four in the top 14 of the team scoring to help secure the championship. 

Kavanaugh FitzPatrick of Lakeland won the boys Division 2 race in 15:52.9, pulling away from the Valders duo of Trevor Meyer and Cody Wenzel, who both ran about 16 minutes flat for second and third. They pulled Valders to the team title.

In Division 3, David Vannucchi of Luther, a junior, won the boys race in 15:54.9 and had a 33-second margin at the finish. Durand put three in the top 17 overall on the way to the team victory.

Sophomore Marissa Ellenbecker of Edgar ran 18:56.4 to win the girls Division 3 race by 16 seconds. Dodgeland went 3-4-8 in the team scoring (all in the top 20) on the way to the team title.
