Mo Farah and Callum Hawkins to Race New Half Marathon in LondonBy Adam Kopet A new half marathon race will be held in London in March and Britain's Mo Farah and Callum Hawkins are set to compete, according to a press release. Called the Big Half, the race will wind through central and east London on both sides of the Thames River, including a crossing on the iconic Tower Bridge. Farah, who retired from the track after the 2017 season to focus on the roads and marathons, is set to race his second marathon at the Virgin Money London Marathon in April. The Big Half will serve as a tune-up race. Hawkins, 25, has had a big year that saw him compete at a high level in cross country and on the roads. He finished fourth in the marathon at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships, which started and finished at Tower Bridge. Farah and Hawkins are the two fastest U.K. athletes over the half marathon distance. Farah holds the record at 59:32. Hawkins has run 60:00. More news |
