Ireland's Paul Robinson Runs 4:17 Mile in AntarcticaBy Adam Kopet Last week Ireland's Paul Robinson broke the continental mile record for Antarctica, running 4 minutes, 17.9 seconds, as part of the Antarctic Ice Marathon and 100K. Cathal Dennehy wrote about the record run for Runner's World.
The race conditions were unique. With wind chill, it was -13° Fahrenheit. The race route was a straight line on a plateau between two mountains on Union Glacier. Robinson, who has run 3:35.22 for 1,500 meters, is in the middle of base training for the 2018 track and field season.
