Natosha Rogers Withdraws from Team USATF for IAAF World Half Marathon Championships

By Adam Kopet

Natosha Rogers has withdrawn from Saturday's IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia, Spain, according to a post by Rogers on Instagram.

Rogers has dealt with several setbacks in her training this winter, including a bout with flu. However, her withdrawal is due to a knee injury she has recently suffered.

At this point, USATF has not named a replacement for Rogers. Even if there is no replacement for Rogers, Team USATF will still be able to score as long as three athletes, of a possible five, complete the race.

Not a very glamorous video but this was my last workout I did before my knee injury... Mile repeats at 5 min pace inside on a snowy day and this was right after getting over the flu. This year has really thrown me a curve ball and I have had to give up my position on the World Championship Half Marathon team. I have literally had to piece my heart back together after all the hard work and ambition has gone down the drain due to something completely out of my control. Injuries are the most brutal part of my job because they not only keep me from being able to work but they are a mental mind-f***! However, after every single injury I've had, I always grow and heal in such a raw and beautiful way. It forces me to redefine myself and let go of control. I learn to trust and find ways to laugh through the pain. Now is not my time and that's ok! Feeling hopeful and happy again anyways which is 🔑to healing. I hope #teamusa crushes it in Valencia!
