2015 IAAF World 110-Meter Hurdles Champion Among Nine Russians Approved by IAAF to Compete Under Neutral Status

By Adam Kopet

The IAAF announced Thursday that nine Russians have been approved to compete this year with neutral status.

Among those nine is 2015 IAAF World Outdoor champion Sergey Shubenkov. In addition to winning the 110-meter hurdles in Beijing in 2015, Shubenkov secured the silver medal at the 2017 World Championships and the bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships.

In all, 30 Russian athletes, from the more than 140 who have applied, have been approved to compete in 2018. There have only been 30 applications that have been denied, leaving more than 70 applications still in review.

For a full list of Russian athletes who have been granted the ability to compete internationally under neutral status, see the IAAF release.
