Paul Chelimo Announces Plan to Chase American Record at Prefontaine Classic

The men's two-mile field for the Prefontaine Classic was announced Tuesday.

It is an impressive field that includes Yomif Kejelcha, Muktar Edris, Ronald Kwemoi, Edward Cheserek, Ryan Hill, Paul Chelimo, Ben True and Hassan Mead.

Shortly after the announcement, Chelimo tweeted that he will be chasing the two-mile American record.

The current record of 8:07.07 was set by Matt Tegenkamp at the 2007 Prefontaine Classic.
