Ewert takes down Cisneros' 2016 mark one day after winning 2,000-meter steeplechase title at New Balance Nationals Outdoor By Erik Boal, DyeStat Editor Beavercreek OH sophomore Taylor Ewert broke national high school and American U-20 records Sunday in the 10,000-meter racewalk, clocking 49 minutes, 7.52 seconds at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at Hayes Track at the Haugh Complex in Bloomington, Ind. WATCH THE RACE | EWERT INTERVIEW Ewert, 16, eclipsed the 2016 record of 49:31.88 set by Anali Cisneros of Elgin IL to secure her spot on the U.S. roster to compete July 10-15 at the IAAF World U-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. Ewert had already set the U.S. U-20 record in the 5,000 racewalk by clocking 22:38.16 at the Penn Relays in April for the fastest World U-20 time this year. Her 10,000 performance ranks No. 10 among World U-20 performers this year and came one day after winning the 2,000 steeplechase in 6:38.79 at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in Greensboro, N.C., then driving nine hours with her family to arrive in Bloomington late Saturday night. Ewert became the No. 3 all-time sophomore and elevated to 11th in U.S. prep history in the 2,000 steeplechase. She also placed 18th in December at Nike Cross Nationals to earn All-America honors.
