Mondo Duplantis to Compete at Paris Diamond League MeetingPublished by
Mondo Duplantis Going for Third European Win in ParisBy Adam Kopet Armand "Mondo" Duplantis has two pole vault victories under his belt already in his European tour. He won the Stockholm Diamond League meeting and the Meeting de Montreuil in France. Now the Lafayette LA graduate will compete at the Paris Diamond League meeting, according to the IAAF. Competing against Duplantis in Paris will be Renaud Lavillenie, the world record holder from France, and Sam Kendricks, the 2017 IAAF World champion. Also in the Paris field are Shawn Barber of Canada, Polish athletes Piotr Lisek and Pawel Wojciechowski, and Thiago Braz of Brazil. This will be Duplantis' second Diamond League pole vault competition this year and the third of his career. Duplantis finished second at the Prefontaine Classic, but it was not a Diamond League event in Eugene. Duplantis, who competes internationally for Sweden, stands second on the world list this year at 19-5.50 (5.93m). Lavillenie is the world leader at 19-6.25 (5.95m). Duplantis beat Lavillenie in Montreuil with a clearance of 19-4.75 (5.91m). Duplantis will compete for LSU next year. More news |
