Duplantis Takes 7th In Diamond League Final With LSU Debut 5.68mPublished by
Duplantis Dons LSU Uniform In Diamond League Final By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Armand "Mondo" Duplantis capped his summer season by making his college debut Friday in Brussels, Belgium at the Diamond League final. Duplantis, who became a member of the Louisiana State University track team when he enrolled more than a week ago, wore the purple and gold of the Tigers for the first time in competition. The result didn't turn out the way Duplantis wanted. His seventh-place finish and best height of the day (6.58m/18-7.50) was more than a foot below his best. At the European Championships earlier this month in Berlin, Duplantis made a historic clearance at 6.05m (19-10.25) to win for his mother's native country of Sweden. Timur Morgunov jumped 5.93m to win the competition and Sam Kendricks of the United States jumped 5.88 for second place. Duplantis bowed out at 5.83m (19-1.50), which would have broken the LSU school record. More news |
