National Girls High School Team Rankings - 10/25Published by
Mt. SAC Win Moves Great Oak To No. 1 By Adam Kopet of DyeStat There is a new team at the top of the rankings this week. California powerhouse Great Oak, second in the previous national rankings, takes over at No. 1 after scoring 44 points in the Division 1-2 team sweepstakes race at the Mt. SAC Invitational. However, not far behind the Wolfpack is Summit OR. The Storm put together a stellar performance at the Warner Pacific Classic to move up to the No. 2 spot. This could be the best girls cross country team the state of Oregon has ever produced. What is more, the trio of Naperville (North) IL, Claremont CA and Yorkville IL all stand as close as can be to the top two teams, making for the possibility of a razor-close competition in December should all five teams qualify for NXN. Big movers this week are led by Fayetteville-Manlius NY, returning to the top 10 for the first time since the preseason rankings, at No. 9. However, F-M remains the No. 2 team in New York, behind Liverpool, which is No. 7. North Central WA also made a big jump this week, moving from No. 21 up to No. 10 after stringing together a number of strong performances, including an impressive win at the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational. North Central makes four Northwest region teams in the top 10. Hellgate MT makes it five Northwest teams in the top 15, led by the 2016 NXN runner-up Ember Stratton, who transferred from Sunset OR over the summer. However, it is the Midwest Region that leads the way with the most ranked teams with seven, including newly ranked Wheaton Warrenville South IL (No. 23) and Zionsville IN (No. 29). The Northwest has six ranked teams. California contributes five. Girls Top 30 23. Wheaton Warrenville South IL |
