National High School Girls Team Rankings - 11/8Published by
Summit OR Reaches New Heights As Nation's Top Team By Adam Kopet of DyeStat A new team resides atop the national rankings this week with Summit OR taking over the top spot after a dominating win at the Oregon state meet. The Storm came up with its best race of the season in winning the Class 6A state title in Eugne last Saturday. Right behind Summit is last year's NXN runner-up team, Naperville (North) IL, which won the Illinois 3A state meet in a close race over Yorkville IL. Yorkville moves up to No. 4 in this week's national rankings. Great Oak CA, the previous No. 1 team slips to No. 3 this week as the team continues to search for consistency with its fifth runner. Fayetteville-Manlius NY, down this year from its usual perch, has started to show why the Hornets have won 11 national titles. The team tied New York Section 3 rival Liverpool and won on the sixth runner tie-breaker. F-M and Liverpool stand at No. 9 and 10 this week. For the first time this season, all nine Nike regions are represented in the Top 30. Coppell TX was a surprise winner at the Texas state meet, pushing the team up to a No. 24 ranking. North Allegheny PA, the Pennsylvania champion, makes its debut at No. 29. The Midwest region continues to be the deepest. There are eight Midwest teams ranked in the Top 30, making for an exciting race at NXR Midwest on Sunday. However, Clarkston MI will not be competing and both Carroll (Fort Wayne) IN and Beavercreek OH may not be running at full strength. The Northwest Region follows the Midwest with six ranked teams, including three in the top seven and four in the top 11. Girls Top 30
