Thank you for responding both Keep the Faith and Scott.

With regards to the 1992 course record or meet record, Lucas broke it with a time of 15:03.87 (Lynx Time) provided to me by Royal Results.

I would hope that the record would be determined when the runner (or body part that is used to determine the time) crosses over the finish, rather than when the chip crosses over. Otherwise, it would be difficult to believe that the records are accurate. I am pretty sure that the 1992 record was not a chip time.

It is my understanding that there were 3 sets of timers for this race: A display timer (which showed 15:03), Lynx Time (most accurate time of 15:03.87) and a chip timer (with a time of 15:04.6).

Anyway if the Lynx time is correct, I hope that Lucas is credited for breaking the meet record.

How would I contact the meet management?

Scott, I am writing you with regards to the 2013 Sophomore Boys Race. The winner had a Lynx time (photo finish) of 15:03.87 and a chip time of 15:04.6. The record for the course was set in 1992 with a time of 15:04. This year's sophomore runner, Lucas Jackson, broke the record with his actual time, but the chip (which was on his trailing foot), didn't. Since the Lynx time is more accurate than the chip time,

This' one of the meets that does not (to my knowledge) keep a distinction between course records and meet records. The course it uses has changed several times just in the last few years that I know of. My guess is the 15:04 from 1992 is a meet (not course) record - unless it was broken this year.

That's a good question! Chip timing has it's positives and negatives. On the positive side, it's a lot easier to ensure that a time is recorded for every runner. On the negative side, having the chip the foot give some variance. The winner (or the record) should really be determined by when the torso breaks the plain at the finish.

As for the record, that sounds like a judgement call. It should be up to the meet management (Buena High School) and perhaps the timing company, Royal Results. Since the course has changed over the years, I'm not sure a record time is valid anyway.

Scott, When is time to recognize the Foothill League Boys in Santa Clarita in the rankings? West Ranch finished 2nd, Hart 4th, and Valencia 5th. Three of the top 5 are from the Foothill League.

All three are quality teams and are in the list I'm tracking. If I was only including current season performances, I think you'd see some Foothill League teams in the top 25. But since many teams haven't competed, I'm still factoring in my preseason rankings and projections. For in-season meets, I convert performances to a state meet equivalent time and compare. For Seaside that's 43-45 seconds difference. That conversion gets all 3 teams far into the top 50, but not in the top 25 yet based on data I have.

Royal Results just updated the results again, in particular the guys senior race. My school santa monica has got its 4th runner named Jahangir H.(15:22) in the results finally. I'm wondering if they (royal results) can update the individual and team results on here and dyestatcal to give the proper and accurate result to all. That would be much appreciated by me and my school. Thank you

Sean - Thanks, we are looking at how extensive the corrections are. We will get our results updated. I will post on here when it's done.
