SUNDAY

Boys 2-Mile:
Dathan Ritzenhein 8th best all time!
Rockford MI jr improved his US#1 time to 8:52.94.  Ritzenhein was pressed early, but was all alone for the last few laps.

Boys Mile:
Alan Webb home alone!
It was billed by meet director Jim Spier as the greatest HS boys mile field in 15 years, but Alan Webb turned it into a time trial.  There was a "pack" for only 100 meters before Webb moved out on top and sprinted the first quarter in 64.  If he weren't so talented, it would have looked like a rabbit trying to steal the race.  But Webb is no rabbit - he is a triple crown thoroughbred.  Webb got to the half in 2:05.9 and then ran faster.   Stretching his lead steadily to the end, Webb finished in 4:07.88.  He was clocked in 3:07.1 for three quarters and 3:52 for 1500 meters.

Mason Ward caught Millrose Games champ Tristan Colangelo for second by a split second in 4:13.20, and Noel Paulson was fourth in 4:18.21.  Colangelo led Gloucester MA to a new boys DMR record Friday night in New York at NSI and then flew to Indiana for this duel with Webb.

Girls Mile:
Alejandra Barrientos,
San Lorenzo Valley CA jr, took over the national lead with a blistering stretch kick over Alicia Craig in 4:48.96.  Barrientos went out on top and led a pack of 6 girls through a quarter in 70.2 and half in 2:26.3.  Simplot Games champion Craig moved smartly to the lead with a split of 3:41 at the three quarter mark.  Then Barrientos took the lead back in less than a lap and accelerated to the finish to win going away.  Ale was timed in 4:31.8 for 1500 meters.  Craig was second in 4:48.96, followed by Hillary Edmondson 4:53.87, Katie Lyman 4:56.85, and Renee Gunning 4:57.69.

Girls 2-Mile: Carol Henry, Sarnia Ontario, was a runaway winner in 10:23.63, with IN jr Michelle dela Vina second in 10:34.98.  Another Canadian, Nikki Reckman, was 3rd 10:37.45 and UT so Laura Zeigle fourth 10:38.85.  Zeigle ran in the morning "slow" section so she could make an airplane connection.
