Maryland State Meet
conducted again on the dusty, slippery old wood floor of the 5th Regiment Armory in Baltimore
2A-1A
Already a 7-foot high jumper this season (US#1), Middletown MD jr Greg McCormick became a 15-foot pole vaulter Wednesday in Maryland State Meet.  McCormick and David Hinton, Queen Anne's sr, were perfect in the pole vault to 15-0.  Then it went down to each boy's third attempt; Hinton missed (after running in the 60 meter hurdle final) and McCormick sailed over the bar clean.  After three close misses for a new MD record 15-1.25, McCormick joined Hinton at the high jump pit, where they were also seeded 1-2.  Fatigued from their pole vault heroics, both boys were below their best at 6-4, with McCormick winning on fewest misses.
