Oregon Preview Meet - Eugene, 11 March 2000
Women's 3000m steeple race canceled
Message 8 March 2000 from Liz Howell, University of Oregon: "We had to [cancel] just yesterday ... There were only three women entered ... and we felt the quality of competition would not be adequate for the athletes.  We honestly expected many more community college and unattached athletes (and even some of our own) to enter but this was not the case. Many of the same women coming this weekend to Oregon ran the steeple last weekend at
Linfield and perhaps this had an effect..."
-------
Note: Record conditions, needed to qualify for nationals, include a minimum of three participants. Races with two-runners fail to qualify. We don't report results of "races" showing only one runner.
---------------
Schedule:

Two more races possible:
Wheeling [West Virginia] Jesuit University may add a women's 3000m steeple to its Invitational Meet on Saturday, 8 April 2000. Details including e-mail contact are expected for next Steeple Report.

San Diego (California) USATF Championships, on 24 June at the
Olympic Training Center, may offer a women's steeple. No confirming details received yet from meet director.
