BOB GOURLEY'S LIST

Tracy Argo is first girl to hit 40 feet in triple jump in Nevada and found the experience painful.  She sprained her ankle landing

Tigard OR sr Ryan Brown, signed by Western Oregon on a football scholarship, long jumped 24-9 at the Sandy Inv for a new OR record.  Brown was over 24 feet on 4 of 6 jumps and is now gunning for 25 feet.

3 vaulters over 15' for Carroll IN - On a 45 degree cold spring day in northern Indiana, Fort Wayne Carroll took 1-2-3 in a 3-way with Paul Gensic and Dusty Runkle both 15-9 and Dave Mahlan 15-0.  Must be a record, at least outside of Texas.

Wind swirling in MS -
Soph Derick Bogan, Okolona MS, is creating a stir with his startling sprint times.  On Wed 4/12 Bogan ran a 10.57 100 into a headwind at Tupelo MS.  Tupelo coach Butch Ard caught the time on Finish Lynx and said that local TV was reporting 14 mph winds.

Freshman Skipper pole vaults 15 feet - make that 16 feet!
Tommie Skipper, 9th grader from Sandy OR (brother of Art Skipper, Natl.Record holder Jav), who vaulted 15 feet 3/30, raised his PR to 16 feet on 4/12 at a dual meet in Sandy OR.  (Rick Baggett, Willamette Striders Track Club)

Here and There
Spokane University HS sr Anthony Buchanan, bound for Washington State on a football scholarship, ran a 20.7h 200 meters at the 74th Davis Invitational in Yakima WA.  This showed Buchanan may  threaten the Washington state record of 21.02, held by the great Ja' Warren Hooker with electronic timing.

In New Jersey, the versatile  Erin Donohue threw the javelin 147 feet for a PR by 15 feet.  Donohue is a star basketball player, the defending Foot Locker national outdoor champion in the mile run, and a former Foot Locker cross country finalist.

What a day!
On TV, they would call it a career day - let's just call it a scholarship day.  Pine Bluff AR sr Mark Bradley, who emerged as a 7-foot high jumper late in the indoor season, had a day to remember last Saturday at the Doc Walker Relays in Texarkana AR:
7-4 HJ (US#1)
25-0.5
LJ (US#1)
13.8h
110H
37.2h
300H
