AAU Jr Olympics 2000RulesAAU Membership - Age Groups - Qualification for Nationals from the AAU Track and Field web site MembershipIndividual membership in AAU is necessary to compete in Junior Olympics meets. Membership costs $10 per year and can be accomplished online at the AAU web site or by calling 1-800-AAU-4USA. Track and field athletes may participate as part of an AAU club or as an unattached individual competitor. All relay teams must be registered AAU club members. Applications for club membership are available through the AAU National Headquarters Membership Department at (407)-934-7200 or the local AAU Association Office by calling 1-800-AAU-4USA. Age GroupsThe eligibility of a participant for a particular age group will be determined by the participant's year of birth. Participants MUST compete in their respective age divisions ONLY. The AAU Athletics Program is comprised of eight age divisions (male and female combined). The athletes year of birth shall determine the age division that he/she will compete in. In 2000 the age divisions will be as follows: Primary - 1992 and after; * Athletes who are still eighteen (18) years of age through the final day of a national track & field (Youth Athletics) meet shall be eligible to compete in the Young Men's and Young Women's division. Athletes must compete only in their own age division. No one may compete in a younger or older age division, either in individual or relay events. Relays are authorized for Bantam, Midge, Youth, Intermediate and Young Men/Women age divisions only. Qualification for National ChampionshipAssociation championships determine advancers to the Regional meets, based on association rules. The top four finishers in Regional meets advance to the national championship. |
