Latest News - NM State Meet - Two-time Foot Locker national finalist jr Felicia Guliford 19:50 5k was not in top shape but still led US#14 Gallup girls to 5A win. Guliford was 51 seconds slower than last year on the Red Rock SP course, and two 3A girls ran faster times on a cold, windy, rainy day at 6500 feet elevation -- Jackie Gallegos 19:33 and Erin Lewis 19:45. The Gallup boys, ranked US#19, were upset by Sandia, 32-56. IN State Meet - Franklin Central sr Aaron Fisher 15:12 5k became the first Indiana runner to win three straight individual titles since the first meets in 1946-48, breaking the hilly Indiana U. course record by 20 seconds. Also under the old record was runner-up Winamac jr Mike Haschel 15:24. Girls champion was New Prairie fr Amanda Vanwanzeele 14:05 4k. Valparaiso swept the team titles in the one-class meet. Complete Results MI State Meet - Dathan Ritzenhein 14:10 CR leads US#4 Rockford boys to first state title, 56-89, over defending champion US#7 Novi. MN Nick Schneider injured, but still running - Minnesota star (2nd in 2-mile and 4th in 1-mile at Foot Locker Outdoors last June) was hobbled with achilles tendon injuries earlier in the season and now he has a stress fracture of the fibula. He still ran in his MN district meet with a brace (and won!). Now he is reported planning to run in the MN State Meet Saturday 11/4. In the midst of all this, Schneider has verbally committed to attend Duke next fall. CA Ryan Hall 14:52 3mi in DeAnza League championship 10/31 at Yucaipa HS. Hall leads Big Bear 29 to title with 7 of top 13 finishers. A few days earlier (10/27), the 2000 national Foot Locker mile champion signalled he was rounding into shape by winning an all comers 2-mile at Azusa Pacific U. in 8:58.6. He beat former NAIA indoor mile champion Ricky Etheridge by 5 seconds. Afterward, Hall told SoCal track writer Rich Gonzales on CalTrack that he was lethargic earlier in the season because of side effects of taking the prescription drug acutane to treat a facial blemish problem. OH the story of Northbend Rd - Cincinnati rivals St. Xavier and LaSalle are only 5 miles apart and both are nationally ranked - they will meet again for the third time this year in the OH State Meet 11/4. Preview IA Iowa City West girls win 3A state meet as Jeni Frudden 10:59 2mi leads a 1-3-5-8-14 effort by the US#6 squad. Ben Glaser, W. DesMoines Dowling, 15:22 won the boys title, with Chris Jones 15:39 second. Both Frudden and Glaser were undefeated this year. Gomez 15:44 won this time by 4 seconds with a surge in the last mile, both breaking the record on Taft's home 3.1 mile course. WI State Meet - Stevens Point soph Chris Solinsky 15:32 5k beat favored Waukesha West sr Matt Esche by 7 seconds. Choices 2000 First Class of 2001 choice is Kendra Wecker, of Marysville KS, the US#1 javelin thrower (169-5), who will go to Kansas State.
