The University of South Carolina may be
cornering the market on female sprinters in the Class of

make a championship relay team as freshmen next year:
Erica Whipple FL
Alexis Joyce CO
Lashinda Demus CA
Khalilah Carpenter OH
Shevon Stoddart NY
Tiffany Ross FL
The big one is still out there - Monique Henderson - and she is also
rumored to be leaning toward "USC" - the only question is
which one? The California or the South Carolina verson?

Report
Ryan Hall
14:50 in CA State Meet - Misses state meet record
at Fresno 11/25 and, according to DyeStat
Message Board poster Lasse Viren, he hasn't decided about
running in the Foot Locker West regional 12/2 at Mt. SAC. Viren's
post:
"Hall's splits 4:40 9:36 about a (4:40 last mile) finished with
about a 40 sec win. it was cold and no sun out (after a mile my arms
were ice COLD). He said he wanted to run 4:35 9:20 and under 14:40
(course record is 14:38, he hinted he was thinking about getting
it). Hall seamed a little disappointed, said he will decide in the
next few days if he will run footlocker."
Later, John Ortega reported in the Los Angeles Times
that "Hall is leaning toward running in the meet after saying he
wouldn't two weeks ago."
Another recount in Florida!
-- After celebrating their upset of Delray Atlantic
for 3 days, joy turned to sorrow for Winter Park FL. The
FHSA reversed the boys 4A result and declared Atlantic the winner,
111-115, when it was discovered by video reruns that Atlantic's 3rd
runner finished 24th instead of 31st. What will the Florida
Supreme Court say?
FL
State
Meet - Video
rerun reverses boys 4A championship!! Original Result: Winter
Park sr Mike Swope tops the Jefferson twins to lead his
team to the 4A championship, 114-117, over Atlantic. Swope
won in 14:54 3mi at Brevard Community College, with Atlantic's John and
Sean Jefferson next at 15:03 and 15:09. Revised Result (after
study of videos of the finish): Atlantic 111, Winter Park 115. Fastest girl is sr Christa
Benton, Keswick Christian 17:26. Complete
