1. How did it feel when the race was over and you realized how you had finished and were going to Orlando? Was the placing a surprise, or something you were shooting for all year?

I was so happy to make it; it was unbelievable. I was going for the top eight and to finish second was a big surprise.

2. Was Foot Locker Regional your best race of the year? If so, tell us about what made it so. If not, tell us about your best race of the year.

State and FL West were my two best races and I think it was because they were the two races that I focused on all season.

3. Tell us about your coach(es) and what were the key training elements that helped you improve and get to Orlando.

Coach Tyson is a big supporter and a lot of help. It helps that he has gotten to know some other athletes here.

4. What are your goals Saturday? What kind of race will it take for you to get All-American (or win, whatever your goal is)?

My goal is to get top five; the best race I have ever run.

5. Who are the most important influences in your running life (family, coach, friends, etc.)? Who is your favorite elite (HS, college or pro) runner?

My coach is the most important influence. My favorite elite runner is Bob Kennedy.

6. What are your biggest interests outside of running?

My interest is house designing.

1. How did it feel when the race was over and you realized you had finished fourth and were going to Orlando? I suspect you wanted to finish higher, but what's your reaction overall?

I'm fine with my place because I ran the best that I could, and the first 3 guys just happened to run faster. I wasn't really thinking about Orlando when I finished because I was so tired. It was a tough race. But once I calmed down and realized I was going to Nationals in Orlando, it just lit up my eyes!

2. Tell us about your best race of the year.

For cross country, it was setting a league record at the Hayward High School course for NCS.

3. Tell us about your coach(es) and what were the key training elements that helped you improve and get to Orlando.

I increase my training each season, and keep on doing strong interval training. These things plus a positive attitude and clear guidance and encouragement from my coaches really help me out.

4. What are your goals Saturday? What kind of race will it take for you finish in the top 5 or even win?

I'm going to run for first, but no matter what place I get I just want to run the best I can, and hopefully no matter what, at least get All-American (which is top 8). (Ed Note: Actually, top 15).

5. Who are the most important influences in your running life (family, coach, friends, etc.)? Who is your favorite elite (HS, college or pro) runner?

The most important influences are all the above -- my coaches, family and friends. I admire all runners who have a positive attitude and work hard.
