\r\nWith regards to the 1992 course record or meet record, Lucas broke it with a time of 15:03.87 (Lynx Time) provided to me by Royal Results.
\r\n
\r\nI would hope that the record would be determined when the runner (or body part that is used to determine the time) crosses over the finish, rather than when the chip crosses over. Otherwise, it would be difficult to believe that the records are accurate. I am pretty sure that the 1992 record was not a chip time.
\r\n
\r\nIt is my understanding that there were 3 sets of timers for this race: A display timer (which showed 15:03), Lynx Time (most accurate time of 15:03.87) and a chip timer (with a time of 15:04.6).
\r\n
\r\nAnyway if the Lynx time is correct, I hope that Lucas is credited for breaking the meet record.

\r\nHow would I contact the meet management?","date_added":"Oct 2nd 2013, 9:22pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":172934,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"davidaubrey","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=51239","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/davidaubrey.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1237215"},"873350":{"pb_id":"44479","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"873350","comment_id":"873350","member_id":"44479","comment":"

\nThis' one of the meets that does not (to my knowledge) keep a distinction between course records and meet records. The course it uses has changed several times just in the last few years that I know of. My guess is the 15:04 from 1992 is a meet (not course) record - unless it was broken this year.","date_added":"Oct 1st 2013, 8:26pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":172934,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"Keep the Faith","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=44479","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/profile.php?member_id=44479","pb_wally_id":"1095254"},"873348":{"pb_id":"4588","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"873348","comment_id":"873348","member_id":"4588","comment":"

\nThat's a good question! Chip timing has it's positives and negatives. On the positive side, it's a lot easier to ensure that a time is recorded for every runner. On the negative side, having the chip the foot give some variance. The winner (or the record) should really be determined by when the torso breaks the plain at the finish.
\n
\nAs for the record, that sounds like a judgement call. It should be up to the meet management (Buena High School) and perhaps the timing company, Royal Results. Since the course has changed over the years, I'm not sure a record time is valid anyway.","date_added":"Oct 1st 2013, 8:21pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":{"wally_id":"388","email_settings":"8191","email":"scott.joerger@gmail.com","address":"ScottJoerger","gender":"m","member_id":"4588","member_name":"Scott Joerger","avatar_location":"av-4588.jpg","avatar_type":"upload","avatar":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-4588.jpg"},"can_delete":false,"item_id":172934,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-4588.jpg","pb_title":"Scott Joerger","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=4588","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/ScottJoerger.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"388"},"873339":{"pb_id":"51239","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"873339","comment_id":"873339","member_id":"51239","comment":"does Lucas get credit for breaking the course record?","date_added":"Oct 1st 2013, 7:05pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":172934,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"davidaubrey","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=51239","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/davidaubrey.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1237215"},"873338":{"pb_id":"51239","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"873338","comment_id":"873338","member_id":"51239","comment":"Scott, I am writing you with regards to the 2013 Sophomore Boys Race. The winner had a Lynx time (photo finish) of 15:03.87 and a chip time of 15:04.6. The record for the course was set in 1992 with a time of 15:04. This year's sophomore runner, Lucas Jackson, broke the record with his actual time, but the chip (which was on his trailing foot), didn't.
