Brentwood, Webb School Of Knoxville (Girls) And McCallie School (Boys) Dominate State Meet Competition By Mary Albl of DyeStat It was business as usual for the Brentwood girls, ranked No. 12 nationally by DyeStat, as the Bruins captured their sixth consecutive Division I Class AAA state title at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis. Brentwood dominated with 44 points, placing all five scorers in the top 14. Senior Lauren Banovac led the charge, winning the individual crown in 17:17.2. In the boys D-I AAA race, Cleveland senior Owen Clemons took the spotlight with an impressive 15:06.4 victory over Independence’s Asher Oates (15:14.3). Oates and Independence claimed the team title with 77 points. The Webb School of Knoxville girls made a statement in Division II AA on Thursday, signaling they’re ready to contend with Brentwoo and anyone else at NXR Regionals. They scored a commanding 33 points, led by Calysta Garmer, DyeStat’s No. 12 runner, who clocked the day’s fastest time (17:05.6). Sister Jazzlyn Garner (17:30.3) No. 13, and Carolina Areheart (18:07.9) followed in third and fourth, respectively. Freshman Addy Cotter of Baylor School split up the Webb School's trio wtih a second place finish in 17:28.23. In the Division II AA boys race, McCallie junior Andrew Beroset turned heads with the fastest time of the meet, 15:03.6, to lead his team to an emphatic victory. McCallie scored 31 points, with all five runners in the top 11 and across the finish line under 15:50. The Martin Luther King boys captured the Division I AA championship with 67 points, led by Wyatt Boling’s runner-up finish (15:39.7). Greeneville junior Trey Bailey remained undefeated this season, running away with the individual title in 15:12.9. In the Division I AA girls race, Signal Mountain defended its title with 46 points, placing all five runners inside the top 15. Anderson County senior Ava Moody repeated as individual champion in 18:20.5. Davidson Academy repeated as Division II A boys champions, sweeping the 2–3–4 spots. The King’s Academy sophomore Duncan Oshumu earned the individual crown in 15:48.5. On the girls side, St. Cecilia’s Maggie Crosslin captured the individual title in 18:34.6, while Battle Ground Academy claimed the team championship. In Division I A, Dresden High swept the individual titles, sophomore Vaughn Bounds (16:18.8) for the boys and freshman Hudson McDaniel (19:12.2) for the girls. University School of Johnson City completed the sweep, winning both team titles with 69 (boys) and 52 (girls) points.
