Rowan (N.J.) won its first NCAA men's Division 3 indoor track and field title on Saturday, by a single point over defending champion Wis.-La Crosse.

The event, at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, wasn't without controversy.

Seth Clevenger, an alleged took banned substances last fall and dismissed from Division 1 Iowa State before transferring to Rowan, won the 5,000 meters and 3,000 meters. He broke meet records in both races, running 13:35.55 in the 5,000 and 7:54.92 in the 3,000.

In response, the other podium finishers of both races staged a protest and walked off the award stand and posed together for a group photo.

The final team score was Rowan 74, Wis.-La Crosse 73.  In the 4x400 relay, La Crosse ran a meet record time of 3:10.90 to cut an 11-point Rowan lead to one.

Rowan also got big contributions from Rajahn Dixon, who won the 200 in 20.92, and Kwaku Nkrumah and Jason Agyemang, who went 2-3 in the 60 hurdles. The team also had four scorers, and got 15 points, in the men's high jump.

Trevor Richwine from Dickinson broke the meet record in the 800 meters with 1:48.17.

Washington U (Mo.) also won the women's team title for the first time with 54 points.

Freshman Kate Delia's victory in the 800 meters was a highlight for Washington, which also broke the meet record in the distance medley relay with 11:29.59 and also broke the meet record in the 4x400 with 3:44.54.

Isabel Peterson of Wis.-Platteville broke the Division 3 record in the 200 meters with 23.78.
