Top Two From U.S. Indoors Secure Spots on World Team With Fast 1,500 At Ott Center By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Tavan Smith file photo Former University of Washington teammates Nathan Green and Luke Houser made sure that they will become U.S. teammates later this month at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland. Green and Houser, despite going 1-2 at the USATF Indoor Championships last week at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, both needed to run under the qualifying standard of 3:36.00. At the Philadelphia Runner Track Club Indoor Classic on Saturday, they got their chance and made the most of it. Racing for a fast time, Houser and Green both landed on 3:34.91 to secure the standard. Houser (Atlanta Track Club Elite) caught Green (adidas) on the final lap and won the race 3:34.904 to 3:34.908. Jack Anstey (UA Mission Dark Sky) and Adian Ryan (Atlanta TC Elite) also ran fast and got under the standard. Anstey was third in 3:35.62, Ryan fourth in 3:35.63. Green, the NCAA Outdoor 1,500 meters champion last year, made his first U.S. team. Houser, who won back to back NCAA Indoor titles in the mile in 2023 and 2024, earned a bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships last year in China. |
