SONGOK WINS SECOND NATIONAL CROWN - Texas A&M Corpus Christi - IslandersPublished by
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.
– Texas A&M-Corpus Christi distance runner Shadrack Songok was the
final runner with a provisional time selected to compete in the
5,000-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Championship. On Friday, Songok
proved to be more than a worthy selection capturing the second national
title of his career with a time of 13:51.26. Songok, who was competing for the first time at the indoor championsh, defeated Jacob Korir of Eastern Kentucky
by nearly two seconds. Korir stopped the clock in 13:52.91. The time
was seven seconds faster than his qualifying time of 13:58.19 which he
